Pizza Crust Dough
(Based off the recipe found in “How to Cook Everything” by Mark Bittman)
Ingredients:
3 cups of all purpose flour
2 teaspoons of instant yeast
2 teaspoons of kosher or sea salt
2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil
1 tablespoon of Italian seasoning
Instructions:
Combine flour, yeast, seasoning and salt in a bowl.
Add a cup of water and the oil while mixing the dough.
Continue adding water a little at a time and mixing the dough until the dough is slightly sticky to touch.
Put the dough onto a floured work surface and knead by hand into a smooth round ball.
Let it sit for an hour or until it has doubled. If you want to use the dough for the next day, wrap it and put it in the fridge but it is way better when made the day of.
When the dough is ready, divide it into two or more round balls. Place the dough on a flat surface, and cover it with plastic wrap or a towel for 20 minutes.
Roll out the pizza dough with a rolling pin.
Place dough onto a baking pan and drizzle olive oil on it.
Add sauce, cheese and toppings you like and bake pizza at 500 degrees for roughly 8-12 minutes.
Unfortunately as of posting this awesome recipe, I forgot to take pictures of the first few steps but it’s just like any other dough recipe. You can add more seasonings besides italian, it’s just a starting point. Fun thing about this pizza dough is that you can make it and freeze it for a month so you can have pizza when you want it already prepped to go. This is our default for pizza nights, because it’s just so easy to make! I perfer to make this with a bowl and a spoon but you can use a standing mixer or even a food processor if you want. Just make sure you mix it all the way through! Hope you enjoy, and I will see you next horror tuesday.
