Caramelized Baked Pears
(Modified version of recipe from Jerry James Stone.)
What you need:
2 Pears (any type will do, pick your favorites!)
1/3 cup of butter
1/3 cup of brown sugar
1 teaspoon of vanilla
1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon
Instructions:
Melt butter in microwave safe bowl. Preheat oven to 350 F.
Cut pears in half vertically then scoop out cores.
Carefully cut pears horizontally slightly, do not cut all the way through.
Mix brown sugar and butter together.
Put some of the mix in a baking pan, then add pears and pour the rest on top.
Spread mix with a brush and sprinkle cinnamon over pears.
Bake for 30 minutes or until pears are tender.
This week there were pears on sale in the store and I found this as something to do with them. Note, the original recipe has brown sugar at a 1/2 cup but it turned out super sugary so I am offering an optional deduction here. You will really have to experiment and figure it out by taste/what is available to you. Let me know what your favorite pears are down in the comments!
