Acorn Squash

Acorn Squash

Cut in half and scooped out. Isn’t too hard to cut, just try to keep the cut straight all the way around.

(This is taken from an advertisement at the local grocery store. I thought I’d give it a try.)

What you need:

1 Acorn Squash

Butter, salt, pepper to taste

Instructions:

Finished product, I used waaaaay too much butter though, this was my first time making this.

  1. Preheat oven to 425 and cut squash in half. Scoop out the guts and seeds.

  2. Put on a baking tray cut-side down for 30 minutes

  3. Take out of oven, flip them over, and add seasoning and butter or whatever else you want on it.

  4. Put it back in the oven for 20 minutes.

  5. Take out and serve!

As mentioned, I had never tried to make acorn squash as I thought they were a decorative squash but it tasted surprisingly good. As it is getting colder it is the perfect time to start experimenting with different squashes and winter vegetables. Let me know what herbs you’re planning on using and I will see you next Horror Tuesday.
